Finnigan Faye

A storyteller first, Finnigan is a trans singer songwriter from Santa Cruz currently in New York City. Finnigan’s style has been described as indie-folk, with a sprinkle of theatrical narrative and flavor.

Most known for writing Catching Fireflies: A New Queer Musical, Finnigan still uses elements of climatic storytelling and plot in his solo career to capture listeners, taking them on journeys from far off fantastical places to simple ferry rides along the Hudson. Exploration of gender and sexuality are at the forefront of his work, as a means to encourage a more liberated and authentic sense of self in audiences.

DEBUT SOLO SINGLE: “little prince”

Produced by Lorien Sound, “little prince” tells the love story of a prince discovering his true identity while the one he’s falling for steals his crown. It’s a metaphorical piece about never letting someone make you feel like their secret or hold you back; through a queer fairytale lense, it highlights having a classic situationship rob you of your celebratory coming out moment - but still living your truth nonetheless. It’s also the first song on my discography sung by me!

SINGLE: “androgynous puzzle”

Stream “androgynous puzzle,” a piece about being rejected for your gender identity & the questions gender expression forces you to confront. I wrote this folk song during a pivotal processing moment in my coming out journey. The narrative follows one falling for a best friend & then watching them move on with someone you used to look like - then realizing that maybe you were just jealous of their gender all along. The classic queer question of “do i want to be with them or be them?”
